| Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics |
The future student of doctoral study in Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics has to have finished M.S. degree in physics or related subject. Within the entrance interview he or she should show the ability to conduct independent scientific work and prove essential scientific knowledge in fundamental physics and mathematics, theoretical mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum physics and the special theory of relativity. The topic of dissertation work will be realated to one of these areas:
The standard length of the full-time and part-time study is 3 and 5 years, respectively. All internal (full-time) students receive scholarship according to valid rules. Within this programme students may also take rigiorous examinations to obtain the degree of RNDr. (Rerum Naturalium Doctor). The graduates may assert themselves as scienftific workers at universities and other academic institutions, or employees in scientific institutions conducting research in the field of theoretical physics and industrial companies dealing with modeling of physical processes. Among other possibilities are also postgradual studies at domestic or foreign institutions (e.g. the institutions that cooperate with our Institute, such as the universities of Oxford and Gothenburg, CAMK in Warsaw, or SISSA in Trieste).
